Colwyn Bay 2 - 1 Tranmere Rovers - 22/07/00 - Friendly
The
Bay won their second pre season game with a 2-1 win over a young Tranmere Rovers
side.
The
Bay had the better of the first half, and could have taken the lead when a
through ball found Deiniol Graham, whose chip over the advancing ‘keeper hit
the underside of the bar.
Marc
Limbert and Alun Evans also went close, before the Bay took the lead just before
half time. Evans controlled a high ball on the edge of the area before beating a
Tranmere defender and firing home a low shot.
Craig
Lawton was unlucky when his shot hit the post, whilst substitute Frank Gibbons,
playing against his former club, also had opportunities to extend the Bay’s
lead.
The
Seagulls second came on 74 minutes when ‘keeper Ralph could not hold on to
Marc Limbert’s fierce 25 yard free kick. Minutes later from a similar
position, the ‘keeper did well to save from another Limbert set piece.
Tranmere scored a consolation ten minutes from time, with a spectacular 20 yard volley from full back Dylan Evans.
