Colwyn Bay 2 - 2 Runcorn - 28/08/00 - League
For
the second successive home match, the Bay had to come behind to share the points
with Runcorn.
The
visitors almost scored in the opening minutes when Paul McNally tested Richie
Roberts from 20 yards whilst the Linnets Player Manager Mark Carter hit the post
with a shot.
In
reply Deiniol Graham fired over the bar and both he and Jonathan Cross hammered
shots wide while Marc Limbert hit the underside of the cross bar from 15 yards.
Runcorn
took the lead on 27 minutes when Carter’s cross was deflected to Mike Moseley
who headed the ball to John McAllister to tap in from three yards. The visitors
went 2-0 up in first half injury time when Tony Rigby latched onto a loose ball
to hit a powerful low drive into the bottom corner.
The
Bay came back with a fight in the second half with a Deiniol Graham effort being
deflected away on 55 minutes and then Colin Caton smashed the ball onto the
underside of the bar following Marc Limbert’s cross.
But
Caton was on target soon after, when he scored from a similar position and put
the Bay back into the game. The Bay got their rewards on 71 minutes with an
equaliser. Jonathan Cross found Alun Evans on the left wing and Evans delivered
a deep cross for Graham to score with a powerful header.
Evans
could, and should, have scored the Bay’s third when he was put through, but
Runcorn ‘keeper Richard Acton blocked his shot.
