Runcorn 1 - 0 Colwyn Bay - 11/11/00 - League
The
Bay fell to their third League defeat of the season in a disappointing match at
struggling Runcorn.
The
first clear cut chance came after 20 minutes when Runcorn’s Dave Nolan had a
shot from 10 yards deflected wide of the post and two minutes later a 20 yard
effort from John Robinson was palmed around the post by debutant ‘keeper Danny
Embleton, the Rhyl keeper deputising for the absent Richie Roberts.
The
Bay’s first chance came on 26 minutes when Alun Evans combined with Marc
Limbert to set up Deiniol Graham who headed wide.
The
Bay began to press forward with Jonathan Cross and Limbert having opportunities
from free kicks.
Runcorn
almost scored in the 37th minute when Chris Price intercepted to drill a 25
yarder against the post.
Deiniol
Graham went close with a header following a cross from Marc Limbert.
Runcorn
took the lead on 58 minutes when John McAllister found space on the left 10
yards out to hammer home what was to be the winner.
The
home side could have made it 2-0, when they were awarded a penalty after
substitute Bevan Humphreys was adjudged to have committed a foul in the penalty
area. But Dave Nolan’s resultant penalty was parried by Danny Embleton.
The Bay’s afternoon of disappointment was further confounded when Jonathan Cross and Marc Limbert were both sent off for dissent.
