Colwyn Bay 4 - 1 Bangor City - 18/07/00 - Friendly
Deiniol
Graham marked his return to Colwyn Bay with two goals, as the Bay beat Welsh Cup
winners Bangor City 4-1 at Llanelian Road in their opening pre season match.
The
visitors had looked the sharper of the two sides earlier on. Winger Aled
Rowlands went close when his shot hit the crossbar, before Nathan Comley-Excell
burst through the middle to shoot past the Bay’s young ‘keeper Alex Hill and
give City the lead after five minutes.
Craig
Lawton went close for the Bay when ‘keeper Andy Mulliner had to turn his shot
away for a corner, while his opposite number Hill blocked efforts from Paul
Roberts and Carl Owen.
The
Bay equalised on 25 minutes when Marc Limbert set up James McIlvogue, who found
Deiniol Graham who turn and fire a sweet left foot shot into the top corner of
the net from 18 yards.
Six
minutes before the interval, Limbert was brought down in the penalty area by
Mike Foster, and from the resultant spot kick, Graham scored his second.
Two
minutes into the second half and Bay were 3-1 up. Graham beat two defenders on
the right and crossed for triallist Frank Gibbons to head home.
The
second half saw a number of changes in the Bay’s side, with a number of
reserve players having a run out.
There
were opportunities for the visitors, but Paul Roberts and Nathan Comley Excell
both fired over the bar.
Gibbons
scored his second and Bay’s fourth on 78 minutes, as Bay opened their pre
season with a win.
