HYDE UNITED 3 - 0 COLWYN BAY - 17/04/00 - League
Battling
Bay fell to three second half goals, as promotion chasing Hyde secured all three
points at a soggy Ewan Fields.
The
opening 45 minutes saw the Bay more than match the home side, with Colin Caton
and Marc Limbert in particular impressing. Chances during the first half were
rare as the heavy conditions made it difficult for both teams. Graham Bennett
had to be alert to deny Graham Roberts, whilst five minutes before the break the
Hyde keeper tipped Marc Limbert’s 25 yard shot over the bar.
The
second half saw Hyde taking the upper hand and they took the lead six minutes
into the half when Richie Roberts allowed Paul Robertson’s 25 yard shot slip
out of his grasp and over the line. Hyde’s second goal came on 67 minutes when
Lloyd Richardson ran into the box, exchanged a couple of passes before slotting
the ball past Roberts.
The Bay continued to battle, and Lee Congerton was denied by Graham Bennett. But the three points were to be Hyde’s and on 87 minutes they wrapped up their win when Simon Yeo broke clear to round Roberts and make it 3-0.
