HUCKNALL TOWN 2 - 2
COLWYN BAY -
06/05/00 - League
The Bay
ended the season with a hard earned point at Hucknall Town. Peter Donnelly was
the hero as the Seagulls, down to ten men, came back from 2-0 down.
Hucknall had
most of the chances in the first half with former Notts County striker Dave
Regis firing two efforts over the bar and Daryl Rankin also heading over.
The Bay’s
best opportunity of the first half came in the 29th minute when Lee
Congerton saw his shot saved by Dave McCarthy in the Hucknall goal.
Ten minutes
later Hucknall took the lead. Regis got behind the Bay defence to send over a
low cross that was rifled into the roof of the net by Lee Wilkinson. Rankin
nearly made it 2-0 just before the interval when his drive was blocked on the
line.
The home
side added to their score five minutes after the break. Keiron Begley’s shot
was handled on the goal line by Mark Price, who was duly sent off. The second
successive week that a Bay player had been sent off. Jamie Roberts converted the
resultant penalty and give Hucknall a two goal lead.
The Bay hit
back on 69 minutes when Peter Donnelly fired home a close range shot after
McCarthy had fumbled Congerton’s drive and nine minutes from time Donnelly
struck again with a far post header from Marc Limbert’s corner.
