COLWYN BAY 0 - 0 BLYTH SPARTANS - 15/04/00 - League
The
Bay has to settle for a point in this basement battle against fellow strugglers
Blyth Spartans at Llanelian Road, although both sides had chances that could
have secured all three.
The
home side created the first chance of the game when Steve Rishworth’s ten yard
drive was pushed around the post by Blyth keeper Terry Burke. A minute later
Willie Moat went close with a shot from 20 yards. On 23 Minutes Peter Donnelly
went close following a powerful run his shot was saved by Terry Burke.
The
Bay’s best opportunity of the opening period came five minutes before half
time, when Marc Limbert’s cross was met by man of the match Peter Donnelly,
whose header was denied by Burke.
Four
minutes into the second and Blyth went close when Ian Chandler volleyed narrowly
wide from eight yards, whilst minutes later Moat could have opened the scoring.
In reply substitute Graham Roberts went close for the Bay, whilst Marc Limbert
unleashed a powerful shot which was well saved by Burke.
The
visitors were reduced to ten men on 67 minutes when Ian Dixon collected his
second yellow card of the afternoon, and the Bay almost capitalised on this
advantage when Donnelly’s long pass sent Alun Evans clear, but he shot over
the bar.
Blyth
had chances late on to secure the three points, but in the end both sides had to
settle for one point apiece.
