BARROW 4 - 0 COLWYN BAY - 22/04/00 - League
The
Bay fell to their second away defeat in a week as Barrow registered their first
win in ten games.
Marc
Limbert twice went close for the Bay in the opening 15 minutes while for Barrow,
Neil Illman had a couple of chances to open the scoring in an evenly contested
first half.
On
40 minutes the Bay were awarded a penalty when Limbert was brought down in the
box, but Graham Roberts saw his resultant spot kick saved by Barrow ‘keeper
Simon Bishop.
Barrow
took the lead in first half stoppage when Lee Ellison was the provider for Nicky
Peverell to slide the ball under Richie Roberts.
Just
after the interval, the home side went 2-0 up. Lee Rogers free kick was flicked
on by Peverell to Nicky Waller who toe-pocked the ball past Roberts. Marc
Limbert forced a save from Bishop minutes later, but Barrow extended their lead
on 54 minutes with Neil Doherty’s 20 yard drive, and they scored a fourth late
on when Peter Donnelly turned in Neil Donerty’s cross to concede an own goal.
