Whitby Town 1 - 0 Colwyn Bay - 15/12/01 - League

Despite having plenty of chances, the Bay fell to defeat in this UniBond League Premier Division clash as Whitby won their first home league game of the season.

Although the home side enjoyed most of the possession in the first 45 minutes it was the Bay who had the better chances. James McIlvogue almost gave the visitors the lead after 12 minutes, his fierce drive was palmed away by Phil Naisbett.

In the second half the Bay continued the side most likely to break the deadlock and on the hour Paul Jones' 35 yard chip was turned over the crossbar by the home 'keeper.

Yet it was Whitby who sealed the three points with ten minutes left. Robinson's flick fell to Lee Ure and he clipped the ball past Paul Smith from 10 yards. Bay could have snatched a point four minutes later  when McIlvogue hit the bar from 12 yards.
