Colwyn Bay 0 - 2 Trafford - 011/12/01 - League Cup
Colwyn Bay crashed out of the UniBond League
Challenge Cup, and it was a former Seagulls target who scored the two goals for
Trafford to end their interest in the competition.
The home side needed to win in order to keep any hope of progressing alive, and
they started brightly with Alun Evans shot being turned round by Trafford keeper
Mark Molyneux in the 10th minute.
The visitors took the lead on 33 minutes, when former Flint Town United striker
Darren Emmett, a player who Bryn Jones tried to sign in the mid nineties, cashed
in on a slip by Gary Curtis to fire the ball inside the post from 18 yards.
The Bay were dealt a blow when they lost top scorer James McIlvogue through
injury at half time and they offered very little up front in the second half as
the visitors took control of the game.
Trafford's second came in the 69th minute, with Emmett on the mark once again.
Peter Weston's shot was saved by Paul Smith but Dean Butterworth crossed for
Emmett to head home.
