Ruthin Town 2 - 6 Colwyn Bay - 15/08/01 - Friendly
The Bay completed their pre-season preparations with a six-goal romp at Ruthin Town with new signings Stuart Scheuber, Jon Fisher-Cooke, Craig Hogg and Jason Jones all impressing and Simon Richards had his best game so far when he came on at half time. Colwyn were already 3-0 up by then after dominating the first half. Alun Evans, who proved a real handful, scored twice and James McIlvogue got the other goal after a great pass from Jason Jones had released Owain Roberts set up the chance. A number of substitutions in the second half disrupted the Bay's play for a while, but after Neil Davies had pulled a goal back for Ruthin, Simon Richards struck a sweet first-time volley on the run to restore Bay's three-goal margin. Calvin Davies score from 25 yards and Owain Roberts got the sixth after a Simon Richards shot had been cleared off the line, before Neil Davies got a second goal for Ruthin in the last few seconds.
