Colwyn Bay 4 - 4  Hyde United- 30/10/01 - League

Yet again the Bay threw a two goal lead as Hyde battled back in this UniBond League Premier Divison clash at Llanelian Road.

Having beaten the bottom of the table side earlier in the season, the Seagulls were aiming to do the double and were much the better side in the first half.

It was no surprise that the Bay took the lead after 13 minutes, when James McIlvogue scored, firing into the Hyde goal.

On 24 minutes the home side were 2-0 up, following good work on the left Deiniol Graham put in a cross
and there was McIlvogue to score his second. The Bay should have extended their advantage, while at the other end Dave Williams made an excellent save to deny Hyde.

Hyde were a different side in the second half, and Peter Band reduced the arrears with a header .

The Seagulls restored their two goal cushion when substitute Jason Jones scored with a powerful effort following Stuart Scheuber's corner.

But again the visitors hit back with Mick Doherty's header making it 3-2 and Hyde equalised on 64 minutes when Band popped up once more to steer home a Chris Young free kick.

Both teams had further chances late on, with Colwyn Bay in particular Deiniol Graham missing a golden opportunity.

Graham looked to have made amends for that miss when he score to make it 4-3 and what seemed to be the three points on 84 minutes.

But again came Hyde and Mark Critchley unleashed a superb 25 yard shot which flew past Williams and secure his side a point after an enthralling game.
