Despite conceding an early goal, the Bay came
back to snatch their first league win of the season and their first victory
under Colin Caton.
The visitors could have taken the lead after
only five minutes, when Deiniol Graham crossed from the right and Alun
Evans' shot came off the underside of the bar.
Five minutes later and Hyde, without a win in
their opening four games, took the lead when Joshua Howard's cross was
headed in by Peter Salmon.
Howard and Mathew Taylor both went close for
the home side soon after while the Bay went close through a Jason Jones
header, after a cross from Marc Limbert.
Hyde were reduced to ten men after half an
hour. Dale Hawtin was booked for a foul on Deiniol Graham and minutes later
after upending James McIlvogue, he was shown the yellow card for the second
time.
The Bay took advantage of the extra man and
they equalised five minutes before the break, when Jason Jones ran onto a
long through ball from Craig Hogg to hammer home a low shot inside the post
from 18 yards.
Early in the second half a chance for Salmon
was well saved by Bay keeper Paul Smith, and the Bay took the lead on 50
minutes when Marc Limbert's corner was met by Deiniol Graham, whose glancing
header sailed over Richard Acton in the Hyde goal.
James McIlvogue could have extended their lead
with two efforts going wide and seeing a third saved by Acton.
Hyde could have snatched an equaliser in the
last minute, when Smith dropped the ball following pressure Peter Band, but
Neil Hall could not capitalise on the mistake and hit his effort against the
crossbar.
