Hucknall Town 1 - 1 Colwyn Bay - 17/11/01 - League
The Bay gained a point on their travels to
Nottinghamshire, but they had to come from a goal behind in order to gain a
share of the spoils against
Hucknall Town.
Managerless Hucknall started the brighter of the two teams, with Paul Tomlinson
and Danny Mayman going close for them early on. Not long later and the Bay's
first real chance when Alun Evans' shot was parried by Joel Armstrong, with
Evans seeing his rebounded shot hit the post.
Hucknall took the lead on 27 minutes. Paul Smith did well to deny Mayman but
Stuart Clarke was on hand to score from the rebound.
The Seagulls could easily have levelled things before the interval, Deiniol
Graham's 20 yard effort flew past the wrong side of the post.
In the opening exchanges of the second half Mayman again went close and Leroy
Chambers saw his effort saved by Paul Smith. Chambers was again denied by Smith
while Tomlinson headed the ball over the crossbar.
The Bay were rewarded for their efforts with just under a quarter of an hour
remaining. Deiniol Graham collected the ball on the edge of the Hucknall area,
turned Paul Sherlock inside out and fired into the bottom corner of the Hucknall
net.
Both sides could have snatched it at the end, with Evans putting his effort wide
while Leroy Chambers also went close in the dying minutes.
