Colwyn Bay 1 - 1 Blyth Spartans - 29/12/01 - League

The final league game of 2001 saw the Seagulls earn a well deserved point against Blyth Spartans at Llanelian Road.

The visitors from the north east started the brighter of the two teams, and in only the first minute Gary Williams fired wide from 20 yards. Two minutes later and Paul Smith saved from Lee Scroggins, but soon after the Bay began to threaten.

Graham Roberts through ball found Marc Limbert, and he drove his effort into the side netting while on 20 minutes, Craig Lawton saw his 20 yard shot go wide of the post and Paul Gilmore held a Limbert effort.

At the other end Paul Jones had to clear Carl Pepper's effort off the line and Paul Smith saved from Glen Robson before half time.

After the interval and Deiniol Graham broke clear only to put his effort wide. While Jason Jones' header was cleared off the line by Andy Martin.

On 57 minutes, and Spartans took the lead. Andy Martin's free kick was met by Scroggins at the far post who headed home and make it 1-0.

But within seven minutes of the visitors taking the lead, the Seagulls were back in the game. Glen Graham fed Deiniol Graham, whose low cross from the left was blasted into the net by Craig Lawton. The midfielder's first goal of the season, although much deserved having been in impressive during recent games, and the Bay hoping that the former Manchester United player can finally forget his injury woe.

In the closing stages of the game the Bay went in search of the winner, with Limbert and Deiniol Graham going close while Paul Smith also saved well in injury time to deny Spartans.
