Blyth Spartans 2 - 0 Colwyn Bay - 20/04/02 - League
Following their vital home wins
over Gainsborough Trinity and Emley, the Seagulls needed a result at Blyth
Spartans to maintain their survival bid.
But mid-table Spartans had the better of the exchanges in the first half without
seriously testing Bay's captain and keeper Billy Stewart.
The visitors defended resolutely while new striker Carl Furlong toiled hard up
front with Deiniol Graham in an attempt to find a way through the home cover.
The first period looked like finishing in deadlock until, in added time, Lee
Scroggins took a corner kick and Andy Martin headed home at the far post.
The Seagulls were pushing hard in the closing stages but again were caught on
the break when Neil Raddigan was put through.
There was still time for two players to be shown red cards, after exchanging
punches in the centre circle, Dave McMahon of Spartans and Jason Jones of Colwyn
Bay.
