Colwyn Bay 1 - 2 Bishop Auckland - 15/09/01 - League

Bishop Auckland ended the Bay's five-match unbeaten run in this Unibond League Premier Division at Llanelian Road.

The Seagulls created the first opening after six minutes when Marc Limbert crossed for Deiniol Graham but his 18-yard drive flashed wide.

A minute later the visitors threatened through a Dan Brunskill header that was saved by Paul Smith and two minutes later a 30-yarder from Lee was smothered by the keeper.

Bishop's keeper Dave Samberg stopped a 15-yard shot by Alun Evans but within a minute, Smith had to palm away a Carl Chillingsworth header but was then relieved to see Dave Bayles hit the bar.

The deadlock was broken in the 17th minute when Bishop were awarded a free kick 20 yards out and full-back Lee cracked the ball low around the ball and into the bottom corner.

Two minutes later, Jason Jones put Graham away but his 20-yard effort was saved by Samberg.

Bishop had the best of the first and just before the break Jason Ainsley shot over the bar and Dave Kitchen put a header over. Colwyn had more possession in the second period but lacked the guile to prize open the Bishop defence.

Graham had a double dose of bad luck in the 51st minute though, when his superb angled shot crashed against the crossbar and when the ball was knocked back into the middle, Graham's diving header hit the post.

Seven minutes later, Colwyn substitute Dean Williams saw his fierce shot punched clear by the keeper and then in the 73rd minute, Craig Hogg fired wide.

Bishop took a 2-0 lead against the run of play in the 77th minute, when they won a disputed free-kick.

This time the lethal Lee curled the ball around the ball and into the top corner of the net.

Graham pulled a goal back in the 87th minute when he converted Limbert's right-wing low cross from eight yards but despite piling on the pressure up till the final whistle, Colwyn Bay were unable to carve out a clear-cut opportunity.
