Marine 1 - 0 Colwyn Bay - 31/10/00 - League Cup

Youngsters Frank Gibbons and Owain Roberts both had excellent games for the Bay on a wet Tuesday night. Owain, who is attracting interest from Premiership clubs, hit the bar with a header from a centre by Jonathan Cross who also hit a post with a header. Craig Lawton had a goalbound shot brilliantly tipped over the bar by home 'keeper Chris Clarke and Deiniol Graham hit a shot just over the bar after being put through but Owain Roberts.

When Marine took the lead it was against the run of play. Karl Robinson netted the winner for the Mariners on 32 minutes from a corner kick. Neither side created much in a poor second half where the Bay lost goalkeeper Richie Roberts with a facial injury. After a kick in the face Graham Roberts took over in goal for his namesake and managed to prevent any further goals. But up front, Bay failed to produce an equaliser and must now get results from the remaining group games away at Vauxhall Motors and at home to Burscough and Witton Albion in order to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition.
