Marine 2 - 0 Colwyn Bay - 24/03/01 - League

The Mariners completed the League double over the Bay, a defeat which leaves the Seagulls deep in relegation trouble.

The Bay were dealt the earliest of blows when the home side took the lead after just two minutes of play. Ged Courtney picked up a loose ball in
midfield and unleashed a shot which beat Richie Roberts.

After ten minutes, Dean Williams saw his effort from the edge of the box go wide, while Craig Lawton's free kick went over the bar. The Seagulls could have levelled the scores, when after a run by Alun Evans, James McIlvogue miscued his shot.

Marine made it two on the half hour mark, when David Gamble scored from 35 yards, and give the Bay a mountain to climb in the second half.

After the interval, Marine could have extended their lead through Mike Douglas, but he put the ball wide of the post.

For the Bay, Calvin Davies was brought on in place of Alun Evans and the change almost paid dividends when he tried his luck from far, only for
'keeper Chris Clarke to gather.

The Bay battled all the way in the second half, but could not find the break that they craved for. Deiniol Graham's free kick on 70 minutes beat the
Marine wall, but it could not beat Clarke.

The visitors piled on the pressure in the closing stages of the game, with substitute Colin Caton heading wide on two occasions and Davies and Graham being denied by the keeper.
