Gateshead 4 - 2 Colwyn Bay - 03/02/01 - League

Colwyn Bay fell to their seventh successive defeat at Gateshead in the UniBond League Premier Division.

The game opened brightly as Deiniol Graham put the Bay into the lead after 16 minutes with a fine turn and powerful shot from 12 yards.

Four minutes later, Marc Limbert nearly doubled the advantage only to see his shot well saved by Gateshead keeper Adrian Swan.

Gateshead spurred on by this close shave equalised almost immediately, with new signing Wayne Edgecumbe firing home from close range. After 24 minutes Bay fell behind to a second Edgecumbe goal after Richie Roberts failed to clear his lines, but Bay bounced back and it was Graham again who applied the finishing touch for his second of the match.

Edgecumbe completed his hat-trick in the second half and it was in the 62nd minute that Craig Lawton's indiscipline saw him sent from the pitch for two bookable offences.

Preen rounded things off when after 68 minutes he netted Gateshead's fourth.
