Frickley Athletic 6 - 2 Colwyn Bay - 25/11/00 - League
The Bay fell to a disappointing
and comprehensive defeat at the hands of struggling Frickley Athletic, as they
lost 6-2 at Westfield Lane.
Gary Duffty put Frickley ahead after 17 minutes when he scored at the far post
from Matt Clarke's low cross before Deiniol Graham missed from the penalty spot
for Bay following a handling offence by Chris Hilton. Duffty then returned the
favour for Clarke to score from 15 yards before Mickey Lennon reduced the
arrears ten minutes later.
Colwyn stepped up the pace after the break and duly equalised when Graham fired
in a superb 20-yard drive to make amends for his earlier penalty miss. But hopes
of an away point were soon dashed as the home side scored four late goals and
wrap up all three points. Dean Jones volleyed Frickley back in front after 66
minutes and then a superb pass from Clarke set up Ian Edge to add a fourth after
74 minutes. Clarke, on loan from Halifax, raced onto a through ball to make it
5-2 after 89 minutes and then completed his hat trick in the final minute.
