Colwyn Bay 1 - 4 Everton - 14/08/00 - Friendly

A crowd of over 1,600 saw Colwyn Bay lose to a talented young Everton side in their final pre season fixture match at Llanelian Road.

Everton took the lead on 13 minutes through Danny Cadamateri when he lobbed the ball over the advancing Richie Roberts and into the empty net. But Bay hit back two minutes later when Marc Limbert’s quickly taken free kick curled beyond Everton ‘keeper Steve Simonsen.

The home side could have taken the lead soon after when Alun Evans went close, whilst for Everton Danny Cadamarteri also opportunities to add to his opener.

Everton regained the lead on the half hour when Nicky Chadwick hit a fierce shot that Richie Roberts could only parry, and Chadwick was on hand to score from the rebound to give the visitors a 2-1 half time lead.

In the second half, substitute James McIlvogue could have equalised for the Bay on the hour mark.

Soon afterwards, from an Everton counter attack, Danny Cadamarteri, whose pace caused the Bay defence problems all night, had his shot well saved by Colin Caton on the line with Richie Roberts beaten. Rather than the red card, Caton was immediately substituted. Jamie Milligan’s resultant penalty was well saved by Roberts, who had a good game in goal for the Bay.

Soon after Nicky Chadwick scored his second and Everton’s third with a good header, and Jamie Milligan made amends for his penalty miss when he scored with a powerful shot after some good Everton approach play.
