Blyth Spartans 5 - 2 Colwyn Bay  - 10/03/01 - League

The Bay's fortunes appeared to be changing for the better as they took an early lead in this Unibond League Premier Division match at Croft Park.

They had arrived at the ground late after traffic hold ups, yet despite that after ten minutes of the game they took the lead, Marc Limbert was brought down in the box by Steve Stewart and Alun Evans stepped up to convert the resultant spot kick.

But again defensive frailities were to prove costly as the Seagulls soon fell behind to two goals in a minute. On 23 minutes Glen Robson hit the
equaliser and Ian Dixon volleyed the hosts into the lead just a minute later.

Bay came out fighting in the second half and looked likely to grab an equaliser. However luckless Bay were on the receiving end of a sucker punch as Blyth moved into a 3-1 lead on the hour when Carl Pepper fired home. On 80 minutes the match was over as a contest when Robson completed his double with another volley, five minutes later Pepper grabbed his brace when
he chipped Roberts in the Bay goal.

Once again Bay were easily beaten as they slumped to yet another heavy defeat on their travels. There was some consolation for Bay as 17 year old
Calvin Davies slotted the ball home on his debut.
