Colwyn Bay 1 - 1 Bamber Bridge  - 2/12/00 - League

The Seagulls ended their recent dismal run with a share of the points at Llanelian Road against Bamber Bridge.

On a tricky surface the Bay started with the flourish and they could have taken the lead after five minutes. Jonathan Cross tested Brig ‘keeper Billy Stewart with a couple of long range efforts. In reply, Mark Jones’s free kick found Andy Whittaker at the near post but he headed wide.

Stewart was once more in action after 25 minutes, saving a 25 yard free kick from Marc Limbert.

In the second half Alun Evans broke free on the left flank but Bay home debutant Mickey Lennon failed to connect with his cross from six yards out.

On 71 minutes, the visitors took the lead. Glen Graham was adjudged to have fouled Brad Tates, and from Barry Keeling’s resultant free kick, Leon Smith applied the vital touch which deflected the ball past Richie Roberts.

This setback spurred the Bay on, and on 81 minutes new boy Jamie Holmes hammered the ball over the bar after Marc Limbert had crossed.

The Bay’s efforts were to be rewarded six minutes from time. Graham Roberts chipped the ball to Alun Evans on the left and he ran on to fire a low 15 yard drive past Stewart. The Seagulls could have snatched a dramatic winner in the 90th minute, when Glen Graham 20 yarder cannoned off the cross bar.
